Commercial Base / Easily Accessible
Well connected by road and rail communications, the map of Khammam occupies a central connecting position in Andhra Pradesh as one of the four industrial development centers. It has KTPS (Kothagudem Thermal Power station) as power generating, and supplying centre to sundry areas including Khammam Dist. The Dist; occupies a prominent place in India as it is famous for its coal production through coal mines situated at Kothagudem, Yellandu, Managuru and Sathupally areas. The district is flourishing with major industries besides coal mines such as Bhadrachalam Paper Board, Sponge Iron Factories, Alloyed Steel Factory etc. It is rich with fauna and flora as the forest area extends more than half of the total area of the Dist.

It has nearly a score of pilgrimage centers including Sri. Seetha Rama Chandra Swamy Temple at Bhadrachalam on the banks of the river Godavari. The river is running through the district fertilizing the soil in its course. Papi Hills, Godavari is one of the most scenic rivers of South India passing through multi hued landscapes of Papi hills. Every year between August and February, the river plays host to the Godavari cruise. Kinnerasani and Taliperu like mediun range Projects also special attraction in Khammam District.
